Situated along the southwestern coast of the African continent, Namibia is truly a land of remarkable contrasts. Its land surface is four times the size of Great Britain. Despite its size, it is one of the most sparsely populated countries in Africa. The small population is due to the fact that Namibia is the most arid country south of the Sahara. Namibia is a country of clear blue skies and a pleasant climate. Its landscapes are an ever-changing kaleidoscope – changing from the Namib dune sea in the west to the teak woodlands and the waterways in the northeast. The Namib Desert with its diamonds and the Skeleton Coast stretches along the cold Atlantic Ocean. This desert boasts some of the highest sand dunes in the world. Between the largest canyon in Africa, the Fish River Canyon, and the famous Etosha National Park, with its abundance of wildlife, a diverse collection of scenic beauty, people and activity based attractions form the unique blend of culture and hospitality for which Namibia is famous. It is truly a country to be seen to be believed. One will experience the thrill of eating the finest oysters from their shells, floating between dolphins and seals, climbing massive sand dunes and finding the sought after desert rose. The adventurous side of Namibia offers quad biking in the dunes to a once in a life time 4 X 4 safari through the desert.
